Who We Are
S.T.E.A.M. City was founded to help kids learn valuable skills through creative challenges within the subjects of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. Whether it is building robots and writing code to run them, learning about how plants grow or making a personalised light up electric greeting card, engagement in these programs can lead learners to a future full of educational opportunity and the potential to find themselves in exciting careers.
S.T.E.A.M. City was created by Komal Markan, an engineer and artist, who is also the lead instructor for classes.
Our goal is to make S.T.E.A.M. education opportunities available to all interested students regardless of their ability to pay for programs. We combines the key facets of S.T.E.A.M. to get students engaged and excited to learn and apply their learning. We currently offer Youth programming an Everett, MA and surrounding area.
S.T.E.A.M. City is a 501-c-3 corporation that relies on contributions from our generous friends, neighbors and communities to provide free classes, donations are always appreciated.
Why S.T.E.A.M.?
S.T.E.A.M. education can open up opportunities for students in low income, low opportunity situations by helping open up pathways to higher education.
S.T.E.A.M. based industries continue to grow and the careers in related fields are constantly expanding.
S.T.E.A.M. based careers pay more on average than unrelated jobs.
S.T.E.A.M. projects are FUN, challenging and creative and help to develop problem solving and critical thinking skills in young learners.
